KDE3: Transparency & shadow

I couldn't help to try out some of KDE 3's eye candy, so I enabled "Translucency":
1) Desaturation-effect after pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del (logout), blanks out the whole screen first (instead of just drawing the desat gradient)
2) The window shadow interferes with the "menu drop shadow" effect in:
)
I noticed 2 glitches:System Settings > Window Behavior > Translucency > "Use translucency/shadows"
