VirtualBox: packets were not sent (directed to host)

[PROBLEM]
Running VirtualBox 4.3.10 on Ubuntu 14.04.3 (LTS 64bit) with a bridged network.
Everything fine, but the network on the clients seems to "flicker".
dmesg on the VBox host says:
