[PROBLEM]
Trying to mount a freshly bought, external USB harddisk on Xubuntu 12.04 (64bit).
Getting the following message when I try to open it in Thunar:
Failed to mount "XXX"
Daemon is inhibited.
When I try to open it from the Desktop, simply nothing happens :?

[SOLUTION]
I had the Gnome Partition Editor (gparted) running.
In order to avoid havoc, chaos and tears, it makes sense that gparted restricts access to disks while it's running ;)
Jumping out of an airplane is not a basic instinct. Neither is breathing underwater. But put the two together and you're traveling through space!
