Linux: Pipe "|" character not working on german la

[PROBLEM]
After changing the keyboard layout to german (on (K)Ubuntu Dapper/Edgy), I couldn't type the pipe character (AltGr + <) anymore.

[SOLUTION]
Change the keyboard layout to 105 keys instead of 104.


Example:
KDE: System / Regional settings / keyboard layout
Jumping out of an airplane is not a basic instinct. Neither is breathing underwater. But put the two together and you're traveling through space!
